The former Confederate States enact “Black code” laws to counteract the thirteenth amendment which abolished slavery and involuntary servitude in the United States Constitution. The Southern states passed black codes laws to restrict African American’s freedom and compelling them to work in an intense labor economy based on low wages or debt.
The Ku Klux Klan is founded in Tennessee.
