Civil War 1861-1865

The Civil War began on April 12, 1861 when the Confederates infiltrated Fort Sumter in South Carolina. The war lasted for four years and ended on April 9, 1865 when Robert E. Lee surrendered at the Appomattox courthouse. The last battle that was fought occurred in Texas, at the Palmito Ranch on May 13, 1865.
