Alice Paul, American suffragist, women’s right activist, and feminist celebrates women’s right to vote. She was the only woman who signed the “Declaration of Sentiments” in 1848 and was still alive to see women earn the right to vote.

In 1919 Margaret Sanger, a public health nurse, began a movement to fight for control of reproductive rights through birth control which continues today.

In 1923, the women’s movement proposed the Equal Rights Amendment, which still has not been passed.
