World War II

On September 1st 1939, Germany invaded Poland causing the start of World War II, and within a week, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, The United Kingdom, France, and South Africa became involved in the war. Eventually, the Soviet Union became involved but that was due to Germany violating the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact. The United States refrained from partaking in the war until December 7, 1941 when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor with a surprise attack. From December 8, 1941 until August 15, 1945 was the end of World War II when Japan formally surrendered.
